Ashgabat city

Ashgabat is the white-marble capital of independent and neutral Turkmenistan, recognized as the pearl of Central Asia and the largest administrative, political, transport, trade, and scientific-cultural center of the country. On May 25, 2013, the city of Ashgabat was entered into the Guinness World Records as the most white-marble city in the world. The country was awarded the corresponding certificate from the publication. In accordance with the decree of the President of Turkmenistan, since 2013, May 25 has been celebrated annually as Capital Day – the day of Ashgabat. The capital's responsible mission is to become the main city for all Turkmen people worldwide, a place of their unification, and a stronghold of national statehood.

It is also important to note that on May 1, 2020, the capital of Turkmenistan, the city of Ashgabat, became a member of the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF). Membership in this prestigious international tourism organization opens up new opportunities for the city in the development and promotion of various tourist directions and in building the city's tourism image.

Ashgabat is renowned for its white marble buildings and grand monuments. In the northwestern part of the city rises the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque with its massive golden dome. In the city center, you can see the Ertugrul Gazi Mosque, modeled after the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Another interesting structure is the "Bagtyyarlyk" Palace of Marriages. Its building, consisting of several star-shaped levels, is crowned with a golden sphere. The Turkmen Carpet Museum showcases examples of traditional weaving.
